[sery'zje], Paul, französischer Maler, * Paris 1864, ✝ Morlaix (Département Finistère) 6. 10. 1927; lernte 1888 in Pont-Aven P. Gauguin kennen, unter dessen Anleitung er ein Landschaftsbild (Privatbesitz) malte; es hatte für die Nabis, deren Leitfigur Sérusier wurde, programmatischen Charakter und erhielt von ihnen die Benennung »Talisman«. Sérusier entwickelte einen Malstil, der auf die Ursprünglichkeit und symbolhafte Ausdruckskraft von Farbe und Fläche zielt. 1921 erschien seine kunsttheoretische Schrift »L'abc de la peinture«.
